We thought it might be helpful to explain a bit about what we do and the different types of governors at Rye Oak.
The Headteacher is responsible for the day to day running and management of the school. The governors are there to support the Head with all the major decisions that have to be taken to make sure the school runs smoothly and the children are safe, happy and receive an excellent education. We agree with the Head how to spend the money allocated to the school budget, how many staff to employ, which equipment needs replacing or updating, like the schools I.C.T system, and what the overall priorities of the school should be. We make sure the Head and staff are doing a good job and help where we can if any support or guidance is needed.
We split ourselves into different committees to help manage the many different areas that make up the running of a school. Finance & Staffing, Children’s Centre and Curriculum are the three Rye Oak committees. The committees meet regularly to make sure the school is doing well in each of the areas and to ensure the school has exactly what it needs to continually try and improve the education and lives of the children in its care.
